Jeffrey "Jay" Craig

Jay Craig is chief executive officer and president of Meritor, Inc.

Previously, he was president and chief operating officer, with oversight of Meritor’s business segments – Commercial Truck & Industrial and Aftermarket & Trailer. He has been a member of the Meritor Board of Directors since April 2015. Before joining Meritor, Craig held senior leadership positions at General Motors Acceptance Corporation and was an audit partner at Deloitte & Touche.

Craig holds a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Michigan State University and a Master of Business Administration from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.

He is chairman of the Board of Directors, Focus: HOPE; a member of the Board of Directors, Heavy Duty Manufacturers Association; and a member of the Dean's Advisory Board at Michigan State University's Broad College of Business.

 

April Miller Boise

April Miller Boise, senior vice president, chief legal officer and corporate secretary for Meritor, Inc., is responsible for the legal affairs of the corporation and manages the  Legal Department. Boise also directs legal activities related to corporate governance, acquisitions and divestitures, litigation, business standards compliance, regulatory compliance and intellectual property.

Before joining Meritor, Boise was senior vice president, general counsel, head of Global Mergers and Acquisitions and corporate secretary at Avintiv, Inc. Before Avintiv, she was vice president, general counsel, corporate secretary and chief privacy officer at Veyance Technologies, Inc. Prior to that, she was managing partner at Thompson Hine LLP. She was also a corporate attorney for Cleary, Gottlieb, Steen & Hamilton LLP, Husch & Eppenberger and Blackwell Sanders LLP, and was a labor relations associate at Ford Motor Co.

Boise earned a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan and her Juris Doctor from the University of Chicago.

Timothy J. Heffron

Human Resources and

Chief Information Officer

Tim Heffron, senior vice president, Human Resources and chief information officer for Meritor, Inc., is responsible for executing the strategic plans, policies and programs for the corporation’s global Human Resources and Information Systems organizations.

Previously, he was Meritor’s vice president of Financial Shared Services. Before joining Meritor, Heffron was executive vice president and chief information officer for GMAC Commercial Finance. He also spent nine years in public accounting, most recently as an audit senior manager with Ernst & Young.

Heffron holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Michigan State University.

He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, including the organization’s information technology member section; Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants; Gartner Executive Program; Hackett Group Advisory Council; Oracle CIO Advisory Board; Detroit CIO Executive Summit Governing Body; and the Wayne State University Board of Visitors (School of Business Administration).

Cheri Lantz

Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer

Cheri Lantz, vice president and chief strategy officer for Meritor, Inc., is responsible for working with business leaders to identify and assess long-term growth strategies. She is opportunities and product portfolio, as well as the long-term economic outlooks and trends associated with Meritor’s global markets.

She is also responsible for ongoing strategic analyses of Meritor’s business landscape, opportunities and product portfolio, as well as the long-term economic outlooks and trends associated with Meritor’s global markets. Lantz also has responsibility for global engineering in support of product development and new product launches.

Before joining Meritor, Lantz was a principal at Boston Consulting Group (BCG), focusing on general management, strategy, business development and operations in the North America commercial vehicle market. Before BCG, she was a principal at Strategy&, a subsidiary of PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), in its Engineered Products and Services Practice. Prior to that, she was a thermal management quality specialist and aerothermal development engineer for DaimlerChrysler.

Lantz earned her Master of Business Administration with a focus on corporate strategy and economics from the Ross School of Business, and Master of Science in manufacturing engineering and Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering, both from the University of Michigan.

 

Kevin A. Nowlan

Senior Vice President and President

Trailer, Components and

Chief Financial Officer

Kevin Nowlan, senior vice president and president, Trailer, Components and chief financial officer for Meritor, Inc., is responsible for driving the corporation’s financial performance and providing financial direction and guidance. He also has responsibility for the Trailer and Components businesses and the Procurement organization.

Previously, he was Meritor’s vice president and controller and served in several executive leadership roles, including treasurer and vice president of Shared Services. Before joining Meritor, he worked in the GMAC and General Motors Treasurer’s Office for 12 years in a variety of roles, including eight years as an executive.

Nowlan holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, political science and history as well as a Master of Business Administration from the University of Michigan.

Joseph A. Plomin

Senior Vice President and President

Aftermarket, Industrial and Quality

Joe Plomin is senior vice president and president, Aftermarket, Industrial and Quality for Meritor, Inc. In this role, he is responsible for leading the corporation’s global Aftermarket, industrial activities and global quality.

Previously, he was senior vice president and president, Aftermarket & Trailer and Quality. Prior to that, he served as senior vice president and president, International, responsible for the axle and brake businesses in Europe, Australia, Asia Pacific and India. He also had responsibility for global quality as Meritor moves toward meeting its M2019 objective of driving toward a zero-defect culture with less than 25 PPM. Before joining Meritor, Plomin was president of the Electrical Division at Remy International and was senior vice president and general manager of Remy International’s Commercial Vehicle OEM and Aftermarket business. Prior to joining Delco Remy, he was president of Stewart Warner Instruments.

Plomin earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Knox College in Galesburg, Illinois.

He is active in various industry associations, currently serving on the Heavy Duty Manufacturer Association Board of Directors. He is chairman of the Heavy Duty Business Forum.

Krista L. Sohm

Vice President

Marketing & Communications

Krista Sohm, vice president, Marketing & Communications for Meritor, is responsible for all aspects of corporate communications; marketing and business communications, including media relations; financial communications; corporate brand and advertising; employee communications; major corporate events; and the company’s digital strategy. She oversees global product communications, government affairs and community relations, including the corporation’s charitable trust.

Prior to her current assignment, Sohm was vice president, Communications. She also served as manager, Internal Communications, and held various leadership positions, including senior director, Corporate Communications and Media Relations. Before joining Meritor, Sohm held various marketing and communications positions at EDS.

She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in management from Oakland University and earned a Master of Business Administration from Wayne State University

Sohm is active in raising breast cancer awareness with the American Cancer Society and serves on the Inforum Board of Directors. She is a member of the Michigan Freedom Center Board of Directors. In 2014, she was recognized as one of 160 “Women Worth Watching” by Profiles in Diversity Journal.

Chris Villavarayan

Global Truck

Chris Villavarayan, senior vice president and president, Global Truck, is responsible for the corporation’s global commercial truck businesses encompassing all regions: North and South America, Europe, India, Australia, China, Japan and the ASEAN countries.

Before assuming his current role, he was president, Truck Americas, responsible for the Meritor’s Commercial Truck, Defense and Specialty businesses in North and South America. He also had responsibility for Meritor’s Global Components Engineering, Product Validation and Materials Engineering as well as Engineering and Program Management. Prior to that, he served as vice president, Global Manufacturing and Supply Chain Management. He was also managing director for Meritor’s operations in India, leading Meritor Heavy Vehicle Systems (India) Ltd., a joint venture with the Kalyani Group in Mysore. Previously, Villavarayan was general manager, Operations Planning and Strategy.

He holds a Bachelor of Science in engineering from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Jan A. Bertsch, a director since September 2016, is a member of the Audit Committee. She is currently senior vice president and chief financial officer of Owens-Illinois, Inc., a glass container manufacturer for global food and beverage brands.

From 2012 to 2015, she served as executive vice president, chief financial officer of Sigma-Aldrich Corporation. Before joining Sigma-Aldrich Corporation, she served in various capacities as vice president and treasurer and subsequently vice president, controller and principal accounting officer at BorgWarner, Inc. from 2009 to 2012. She also held various positions at Chrysler Group LLC, ultimately serving as senior vice president, chief information officer and treasurer of Chrysler LLC.

Bertsch is also a director of BWX Technologies and is chair, Board of Visitors, Wayne State University Medical School.

Rodger L. Boehm

Rodger L. Boehm, a director since December 2017, is a member of the Audit Committee.

Until his retirement in September 2017, Boehm was a senior partner at McKinsey & Company, Inc. He spent 31 years at the premier management consulting firm in a variety of roles with increasing responsibility, beginning in 1986. Boehm led client service for leading global institutions, including Fortune 500 companies. His client service focused on long-term global growth and performance improvement, helping companies to significantly improve their cost, revenue, service and quality performance.

Boehm’s background in strategic leadership within the industrial sector ranges from developing a growth strategy for an agricultural and equipment manufacturer to improving the enterprise-wide marketing capabilities for a leading global industrial conglomerate. His solutions helped clients significantly accelerate revenue growth and improve cost and asset efficiency.

Before McKinsey & Company, Inc., he was a quality control engineer with Jones & Laughlin Steel from 1982 to 1984. Boehm also serves as a board member and adviser to the chief operating officer of Home Chef.

Boehm earned a Bachelor of Science in materials engineering from Purdue University in 1982 and Master of Business Administration from Harvard University in 1986.

Rhonda L. Brooks

Rhonda L. Brooks, a director since July 1999, is a member of the Audit Committee and the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. She is currently the president of R. Brooks Advisor, a consultant for start-up firms, specializing in corporate governance and marketing strategy.

She served Owens Corning, Inc. as president of the Exterior Systems Business from June 2000 to July 2002; as president of the Roofing Systems Business from December 1997 to June 2000; as vice president, Investor Relations, from January to December 1997; and as vice president of Marketing for the Composites Division from 1995 to 1996.

She served as senior vice president and general manager of PlyGem Industries, Inc. from 1994 to 1995 and as vice president of Oral Care and New Product Strategies and vice president of Marketing and Sales for Warner-Lambert from 1990 to 1994. She was with General Electric Co. from 1976 to 1990. She is a director of Menasha Corporation.

Ivor J. "Ike" Evans

Ike Evans has been a member of the Meritor Board of Directors since May 2005, having served most recently as executive chairman of the board.

Previously, he was chairman and CEO of Meritor, Inc. Prior to Meritor, he was president and chief operating officer of Union Pacific Railroad. Additionally, Evans held executive positions at Emerson Electric Co. and Blackstone Corp. He also spent 21 years in key operations roles at General Motors Corporation.

Evans is on the board of directors of Textron, Inc., Roadrunner Transportation Services and Spirit AeroSystems and is an operating partner of HCI Equity Partners.

Evans is a graduate of Kansas State University.

William J. Lyons

William J. Lyons, a director since May 2013, is the chair of the Audit Committee and a member of the Compensation and Management Development Committee.

Until his retirement in February 2013, Lyons served as chief financial officer of CONSOL Energy Inc. beginning in December 2000 and chief financial officer of CNX Gas Corp., a public subsidiary of CONSUL Energy Inc., beginning in April 2008.

Lyons has been a director of Calgon Carbon Corp. since 2008 and currently serves as the chair of the Audit Committee of Calgon. Previously, he was a director of CNX Gas Corp. from 2005 through 2009 and Duquesne University from 2005 through 2014. In 2013, he was a trustee of the 1974 United Mine Workers of America Pension Trust.

William R. Newlin

William R. Newlin, a director since July 2003, was elected non-executive chairman in April 2016. Previously, he was the lead director of Meritor’s board and a member of the Compensation and Management Development Committee and the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee. He has been chairman and a director of Newlin Investment Company, LLC since April 2007.

He served as executive vice president and chief administrative officer of Dick's Sporting Goods, Inc. from October 2003 until his retirement in March 2007. Newlin served as chairman and CEO of Buchanan Ingersoll Professional Corp. from 1980 to October 2003. He is a director of Kennametal Inc. and Calgon Carbon Corp. He is also a director of several private companies, primarily specializing in technology solutions, including Carmell Therapeutics, Liquid X Printed Metals, and Sharp Edge Labs.

Thomas L. Pajonas

Thomas L. Pajonas, a director since September 2013, is the chair of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee and a member of the Audit Committee. Prior to his retirement in December 2017, he served as executive vice president and chief operating officer of Flowserve Corp. since February 2014, and previously served as senior vice president and chief operating officer of Flowserve Corp. from January 2012 to January 2014. Prior to that, he served as president of the Flow Control Division from 2004 to 2012, holding the positions of vice president from 2004 to 2006 and senior vice president from 2006 as an officer of Flowserve Corp.

Before joining Flowserve Corp., he was managing director of Alstom Transport’s U.S. rail products unit from 2003 to 2004. Pajonas was senior vice president of the Worldwide Power Boiler Business of Alstom Inc. from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, he served in various capacities as senior vice president and general manager of International Boiler Operations and subsequently as senior vice president and general manager of Standard Boilers Worldwide of Asea Brown Boveri, including supply chain, power products manufacturing and strategic operations.

Lloyd G. Trotter

Lloyd G. Trotter, a director since January 2015, is chair of the Compensation and Management Development Committee and a member of the Corporate Governance and Nominating Committee.

He is a founder of GenNx360 Capital Partners and has been managing partner since February 2008. Previously, he served as vice chairman of General Electric and as president and chief executive officer of GE Industrial from 2006 until his retirement in February 2008.

Trotter has held various leadership positions with General Electric, including executive vice president, Operations, from 2005 to 2006; president and chief executive officer, GE Consumer and Industrial Systems, from 1998 to 2005; and president and chief executive officer, Electrical Distribution and Control, from 1992 to 1998. He began his career with the company in 1970.

Trotter is also a director of PepsiCo, Inc. and Textron Inc. He is a former director of Daimler AG.
