Corporate Responsibility

Making a positive difference in people's lives

Meritor is making a positive difference in people’s lives through charitable giving, employee contributions and volunteerism.

We are supporting programs as diverse as training service dogs for military veterans to supporting STEM education to providing truck driver training for individuals in underserved communities.

The common thread is an alignment with our industry, our business and our employees. Our giving is focused in the following areas:

  • Diversity
  • Education
  • Health & Human Services
  • Industry

Working toward a greener tomorrow

We also believe in good environmental stewardship through the development of products that respect the earth’s limited natural resources and operations that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. We’re proud that five of Meritor’s manufacturing facilities around the globe are landfill-free, eliminating 2,356 metric tons from the waste stream through recycling. But our commitment to the environment goes beyond “Reduce. Reuse. Recycle.”

In 2017, a contribution from Meritor and its joint venture partner, the Kalyani Group, transformed the polluted 9.5-acre Thippayana Lake in Mysore, India into a clean oasis for the local community. We’re also a supporter of Choose Outdoors, a nonprofit organization created to promote and preserve access, use and the future of outdoor recreation on public lands.

Our innovative "green" product designs are helping the environment, too. We’re developing lighter, more efficient and durable products to improve fuel economy and reduce emissions. We’re also one of the first major suppliers in the heavy-duty aftermarket to offer copper-free brake pads. And, our RPL series of drivelines are permanently lubricated and sealed, reducing the need to dispose of and replace grease.

Meritor is also leading the way in the development of full-electric axle and braking systems for the medium- and heavy-duty commercial vehicle markets, a proactive step toward a cleaner, greener future.
