Meritor’s Emerging Leader Development Program (ELDP) is a two- to
three-year, on-the-job development experience for top-notch, ambitious college
graduates. The program provides high-potential candidates with the opportunity
to work on challenging assignments and interface with executive leadership. We
are looking for recent graduates with a BA, BS, BSME, BBA or MBA in Finance,
Accounting, Supply Chain, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Operations
Engineering or Lean Manufacturing.
Program Model
At Meritor, we take a balanced approach to
developing our future leaders. The ELDP provides a powerful program that enables
employees to quickly make an impact at Meritor while at the same time
develop the attributes of a successful leader. The program combines three proven
development strategies:
-
Experience Strategy
- Multiple rotational assignments based on
discipline
- Project-based learning
- Significant exposure to senior leaders
- Relationship Strategy
- Leadership development
- Mentoring and peer interaction
- Manager feedback
- Education Strategy
- Opportunities for advanced education or projects
- Professional certifications
- Business skill courses
Experience Strategy
ELDP employees gain valuable on-the-job experience
through 3 one-year rotations within the Finance, Engineering, Human Resources
and Purchasing organizations. Each successive rotation presents progressively
more challenging assignments and grants greater responsibilities, while
maintaining exposure to a broad range of business and operational practices and
experiences. Additionally, due to the substantive nature of the various
projects, employees will interact regularly with upper management. Assignments
may take participants through a range of disciplines.
Relationship Strategy
Each ELDP employee is assigned a formal mentor when
they enter the program. Throughout the program, the experiences and guidance of
the mentor will help the employee develop insight, make observations and perform
thoughtful analyses about the steps needed to develop into a successful leader.
In addition to the formal mentoring process, ELDP employees
interact with leaders and peers through various leadership development, peer
interaction and coaching exercises during monthly ELDP Vision meetings. Meetings
are held at our Troy campus and provide a forum for associates to practice and
hone the “softer” skills of leadership.
Education Strategy
ELDP employees are encouraged to use the many tools
and resources available to maintain and enhance their skills, such as:
- Executive seminars
- Business skills courses
- Opportunities to pursue additional classroom learning
- Support for the pursuit of professional certifications
