PLAINFIELD, Ind., (Sept. 28, 2006) – ArvinMeritor Commercial Vehicle Aftermarket (CVA) regularly demonstrates its commitment to its 220 employees at its facility here by encouraging employee involvement in the development and success of serving customers through Continuous Improvement (CI).
“Continuous improvement is a key process at ArvinMeritor and involving our employees gives everyone a real sense of pride and accomplishment”, said Joe Mejaly, vice president and general manager of ArvinMeritor’s CVA. “Our employees are trained in the process of identifying new and better ways to do their jobs so this philosophy carries into the products we supply to our customers. This process allows all of us to provide customers with the highest quality product and service in the quickest manner possible.”
To promote continuous improvement, ArvinMeritor hosts an annual Regional Continuous Improvement Team Achievement Competition. The Plainfield facility competes internally in two award categories, Production Excellence (PE) for the manufacturing teams and Business Excellence (BE) for the office teams.
Most recently, the facility nominated seven different teams and had two winning applications, including one Business Excellence award in recognition of improved material flow, dedicated production cells for low volume products, and improved visual controls in the manufacturing area. Another of the teams was awarded the Production Excellence award for its implementation of a major production line completed in four weeks with ramp-up to full production three weeks later. The line was implemented with zero safety and quality incidents. Since its inception in January 2005, the department has maintained 100 percent on-time delivery.
