While success is driven by many things – new technology, efficient
processes, market-leading products, great ideas – it all comes from one source:
our people.
Business resource groups are dedicated to attracting, retaining and developing
talent. Meritor’s resource groups participate in recruiting, developing
and delivering employee training, workplace policy initiatives, community
service programs and partnerships, supplier events, employee networking,
coaching and career-related speaking events.
More than 100 employees are actively involved in business resource group
planning teams, and events sponsored by the groups have attracted more than
1,500 participants from around the globe in 2012.
By creating a culture that embraces diversity, we all benefit from the broader
understanding and new perspectives that lead to greater creativity and improved
problem solving. The result is not only success for our business, but tremendous
personal and professional growth for our employees.
Diversity does not occur through happenstance. At Meritor, we take the time to
listen to each other about ways to encourage collaboration and promote
inclusiveness. Our Cultural Awareness and Diversity Inclusiveness Dialogue
series is one example. This initiative, led by the business resource groups,
fostered personal and professional growth for all employees and helped meet
business goals.
It’s these types of actions that have inspired more cross-cultural teams,
increased effectiveness and improved the quality of our work life.
Globalization is an unstoppable force changing the marketplace. It demands
strong, diverse, impactful teams to explore ideas and programs that drive better
business results. By creating an environment of respect, understanding and
acceptance, we encourage that kind of development.
Sincerely,
Larry Ott
