We are particularly proud of the work we are doing to design solutions that improve vehicle efficiency and mitigate the environmental impact caused by commercial trucks – we call it the Meritor® MPG SERIES. MPG SERIES components are engineered to deliver superior operating efficiency with less downtime to equip our customers with a productivity gain in today’s workplace.

The Industrial segment combines our existing Off-Highway, Defense, Commercial Vehicle (Asia Pacific) and Specialty business units through which we supply drivetrain systems including axles, brakes, drivelines and suspensions for off-highway, military, construction, bus and coach, fire and emergency, and other industrial applications. 

This segment also includes the company’s business in Asia Pacific, including on- and off-highway activities.

Off-Highway

With our Xuzhou Meritor Axle Ltd. joint venture based in Xuzhou, China, we are the largest independent producer of off-highway axles for construction machinery and specialty vehicles in China. Leveraging our installed base in the region and our portfolio of products for commercial vehicles, we are designing a series of drive axle products for global applications.

From construction vehicles including loaders, cranes, graders and paving equipment, to mining trucks, logging trucks and dock spotters, we’re ready to support our customers in all their off-highway needs with new axle models ranging from 35,000 lb.-300,000 lb. gross vehicle weight capacity.

Defense

Over half a century ago, Meritor began its tenure as a leading drivetrain components supplier for military fleets. Today, we are the leading drivetrain (drive and non-drive axles and drivelines) and advanced braking systems supplier for tactical wheeled vehicles globally. Our engineering expertise has earned Meritor many prestigious military contracts with the United States and other countries, including our long-standing position as axle/brake supplier of choice to the prime contractors manufacturing the U.S. fleet of 2.5- and 5-ton vehicles.

We currently provide global systems solutions for a complete range of lightweight to heavyweight tactical vehicles, armored personnel carriers and wheeled combat vehicles for all types of terrains – supported by a worldwide global aftermarket business.

Commercial Vehicle (Asia)

We are building a strong commercial vehicle business in Asia Pacific where we are proud to be the largest independent producer of axles in India, a leading independent producer of drum brakes in China and the largest producer of axles in Australia. We manufacture products for commercial vehicles at our axle facility in Wuxi, China; our braking operation in Shiyan, China; and our Automotive Axles joint venture with the Kalyani Group in Mysore, India.

We are also proud of our advanced engineering capabilities in Mysore, India, and at our technical center in Bangalore, India, the second largest technical center in the company, where we are designing the most advanced – and efficient – drivetrain solutions for the growing commercial truck and trailer, bus and coach, and off-highway markets in Asia.

Specialty

With our rich heritage in engineering and manufacturing for the commercial vehicle industry, Meritor is also well-equipped to serve the needs of specialty vehicle manufacturers of bus and coach, fire and emergency and all-wheel drive Class 5 vehicles. Our performance-engineered products provide leading-edge solutions for some of the toughest vocations.

Our 100-year history of manufacturing both on- and off-highway components enables us to deliver solutions that provide a distinct advantage in robust product designs, speed to market, after-sales support, and overall customer satisfaction. Meritor is currently the leading supplier of drivetrain products for bus and coach, customized fire trucks and All Wheel Drive vehicles in the United States.

We support our customers globally with the industry’s leading distribution system, high fill-rates and on-time delivery; products that deliver superior quality, durability and dependability; and complete after-the-sale technical support.

Our Aftermarket business supplies a comprehensive selection of products for trucks, trailers, buses and vans under our flagship Meritor® brand, and other prominent brand names including Euclid, Meritor WABCO, Mascot and Trucktechnic.

Our customer service centers are the key link in our world class supply chain. We source and ship the parts our customers need promptly to keep their fleets on the road. Our North American Aftermarket distribution center is in Florence, Ky. It is closely linked to the global network through a warehousing strategy that includes 26 other regional locations throughout North America, and several distribution centers across the Americas and Europe with additional facilities in Asia Pacific.

Trailer

Meritor has been a leader in the design and manufacture of trailer components since 1930. In North America alone, we have produced more than eight million trailer axles, with more than 50 different axles for a broad range of trailer applications. And, our suspension modules and systems continue to gain widespread acceptance as we set the pace for the industry with important new product innovations and efficiencies.
